"Old" New Year's Day; Epiphany
The Old New Year’s Day is approaching! That is, the New Year Day according to the "old" calendar, or more accurately, the Julian calendar. On this same day, the eighth day after the Nativity of Christ, we celebrate the circumcision of Jesus Christ, a minor feast of the Lord, and the memory of St. Basil the Great. To mark this occasion, special prayers for the new year will be offered at the Liturgy on Wednesday 14 January.
The Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord falls on Monday this year. Following the Liturgy on 19 January, there will be the Great Blessing of Water (as in previous years, we will release doves).
According to ancient tradition, in the days following Epiphany, the priest blesses the homes of parishioners. Blessing your home is important in itself, but it is also a special opportunity to talk with the priest in a more intimate environment, get him to know your family better, and ask important personal questions. Those wishing to have Father Yaroslav bless their home, please contact him directly.
The next services will be held in our church on:
Tuesday 13 January at 6:00 PM: All-Night Vigil.
Wednesday 14 January at 8:30 AM: Liturgy of St. Basil the Great.
Friday 16 January at 8:30 AM: Royal Hours.
Saturday 17 January at 6:00 PM: All-Night Vigil.
Sunday 18 January at 8:30 AM: Liturgy and Vespers.
At 6:00 PM: Vigil.
